sometimes i wish... [a blog]

Faced with the unutterable, words still disintigrate...
And ever new, out of the most quivering stones, music builds her divine house in useless space.

so i am definitely attempting to improve my abilities as a musician. maybe streching myself too far--working on piano, bass, and guitar [folk and rock]. whilest trying to read. whilest trying to work. whilest trying to pray. whilest trying to listen. whilest trying to communicate. i no longer care about getting in shape. i thought i was going hiking, but i'm not, so i am bitter and don't care. no motivation to get in shape other than a longer life expectancy. life, shmife. if God wants me here long, i'll be here long. if not, i'm happy to go.
keeping up appearances
to do this summer [and lovely reasons to do them...]:
-get better at rock'nroll guitar [be able to play crowd-pleasing cliches like purple haze and stairway to heaven]
-get better at folk guitar [be able to play bob dylan at coffeehouses]
-get better at bass [be able to do sweet basslines to simple songs--use more of the fretboard to appear better]
-get better at piano [be able to play radiohead songs well... learn more ben folds... eventually, be able to play great balls of fire--for looking sweet at parties]
-get better at reading music [don't look so confused when trying]
-do book club with Mandy [appear well-read... be familiar with impressive works]
-read more theology [look smart. be able to explain difficult concepts. know answers to tough questions.]
-do accapella group [sing at nursing homes... appear like charitable kind person... and look good for college accapella]
-work [make money to not seem too poor in college]
-get together with "old" friends [might be able to use them later. appear to have many friends]
-do a small group bible study [appear like good christian]
-do hardcore band [increase your "musical history"... be able to say "yeah, i was in a hardcore band once..." to sound as if you have matured greatly since then]
-have regular quiet times [keep in touch with God... He might be useful later]
